Dipstick Markings and Dimensions, Twin Cam - TC-329

First business here is to be sure your dipstick tube is screwed all the way down in the engine block. The one shown here is not. When screwed all the way down the exposed height should be 98.4mm (3-7/8-in) from the sump to the flared end of the tube.

Cross lines on the dipstick should be 7-mm from the tip and 23-mm apart (3/8" and 7/8"). Length of the dipstick should be 168-mm (6-5/8") from tip to the fixed shoulder, and there should be a rubber washer on the stick below the shoulder as a seal.
dipstick dimensions
dipstick measure There is a straight round shank on the dipstick that fits into the tube. The length of this shank is not critical, as long as the stick is correct length below the shoulder.

Given some thickness for the rubber washer, the end result is oil level low mark 2-3/8" below the sump flange, and high mark 7/8" higher at 1-1/2" below (the top side of) the sump flange.

Addendum April 22, 2021:
In retrospect, I suspect this oil level may be way too high (at least 1/4-inch too high), which could cause the connecting rods to dip into the oil, which would be a real no-no, causing frothing and air bubbles in the oil. See more notes about this on next page.
