LIGHTING SHIELD For Small Dash Instruments -- DT-216

Now several years later with more people asking the same questions, I finally got motivated to make drawings of the instrument lighting shield I made nearly 40 years earlier. I may have made those out of 22 gauge galvanized furnace duct, but I thought they were little to thin to hold their shape for easy soldering. I made these drawings with 18 gauge sheet metal in mind, but I would have to try it to be sure it's not to thick for this application. The flat plates as drawn will have two very sharp needle points. Feel free to truncate these slightly to avoid being stabbed. For solder assembly you can place a 1/2 inch spacer between the flat plates, then wrap the perimeter strip around the outside to be flush on both sides.

If I build another prototype I may eventually have more notes and some pictures to post.
