LHD and RHD Pedal Positions- CF-201P

This question comes up periodically with some Left Hand Drive car owner wondering why there are four screws in the back of the right side forward vertical column of the chassis frame. Here we have pictures of the pedal positions for Left Hand Drive and Right Hand Drive cars. Brake pedals are the same part number. The LHD clutch pedal has different form in the upper shank to clear the steering column. The accelerator pedals are completely different with the RHD pedal being significantly lower and farther way from the brake pedal.

Notice that the accelerator pull cable is always on the right side of the car, as designed for the RHD model. The LHD accelerator pedal includes a long cross shaft going from the pedal across top of the tunnel to the right side of the car to pull the cable in the same position as the RHD cable. That may seem a bit strange, but that's just how it was done, back in the day.

There were also two different forms for the cross shaft on the LHD accelerator pedal (functionally interchangeable). See: Carbs/CB-114S

There were also different forms of clutch and brake pedals for MGA Twin Cam and "Deluxe" cars which had two separate master cylinders.
