First issue - the clutch plate they supply is for a Mazda MX-5 (Miata) at 7". There is a mismatch in size between the clutch plate and the pressure plate. If you offer up the clutch plate to the flywheel you will find the surfaces do not match up (both inner and outer). I went to a Mazda dealer and found a clutch plate which matched the pressure plate exactly. I recall it came from a commercial vehicle but in every other respect it was exactly the same.

Second issue - the uni-joint of the tail shaft they supply when fitted will hit the brackets inside the tunnel that hold the handbrake. I had to make new brackets to provide clearance.

Third issue - the fitting they supplied for the tachometer meter cable required a hole to be drilled in the tunnel and the cable would have sat about 1" above the floorboards. I sent mine back and got a fitting for an electric tachometer which fitted inside the tunnel. Hopefully they may have redesigned the original unit.

Fourth Issue - you have to fit the bolts for the engine with threads facing forward before fitting the engine. I have an MGB engine with a 10mm back plate (unlike the A engine which I think is 5-6mm) With my setup there was barely any clearance between the bolt head which goes through the bellhousing casting and the firewall. So watch for this and keep the engine as far forward as possible. To increase clearance I had to file the two bolt heads so they would not hit the firewall when the engine moved slightly.

When I did my installation I really began to wonder if the factory had ever tried putting one into an MGA as the original product was developed for MGB. In spite of this it is a great gearbox and transforms driving of the car. -- Cheers -- Brian
