Swivel Link SEALS, Split For Easy Replacement - FS-109B

This is a nice trick. These split rubber seals have been around for many years (maybe decades), but are not well known, and you have to know where to find the parts.

Replacing the original style one-piece closed ring swivel pin seal (item 11 below) normally requires major disassembly of the front suspension. For the lower swivel link in particular, the wheel bearing rotating hub must be removed before the brake backing plate can be removed, and all that has to get out of the way before the lower swivel link can be unscrewed from the swivel pin. With these split seals none of that needs to be disassembled. Just tear out the old seals, clean up the assembly, and install the new split seals with a few small machine screws.


Replacing side seals (item 41 above) on the horizontal trunnion joints requires removing the horizontal bolt, but those can be done one at a time without disassembling the rest of the suspension.
