Here you see the hub with the bearing removed and sitting in my hand below. Notice the rubber lip seal inside of the open end of the hub. This was a new seal just a year earlier, and it still looks like new. But the sharp sealing edge is long gone, abraded away by that nasty groove in the axel housing. Seems like that seal only lasted a few weeks before it started leaking again.
