The MGA With An Attitude
K&N AIR FILTERS -- CB-201-02
The original MGA air filter housing has an internal height that is slightly more than the thickness of the K&N air filter element, about 1-7/8". To make the new element seat and seal properly inside of the covers you need to reduce the height of the outer screen and the central standoffs. I used the pedestal grinder to take a small amount off of the edges of the screen, reducing the height to about 1/32" less than the thickness of the filter element. You don't have to remove much here. The grinding job only takes a minute on each side of the screen. Do only one side of the screen at a time and keep measuring the height as you go to maintain an equal height all the way around.
