"My 57 MGA Coupe came from the factory with the optional windscreen washer. I restored the manual pump cosmetically but have never been able to get the manual pump to work. I thought about what I could do and came up with this. --- I’m going to install an electric MGB windscreen washer pump in my MGA that will be activated by the original pump knob so the dash will look as original. I removed the rubber bulb from the original pump housing and I am using the original stem/knob to push a starter button I bought from Holden Vintage & Classic that I installed in the back of the original pump housing. I had to fabricate a 1” diameter washer with a hole large enough to accept the switch.

To make the stem long enough to push the starter button, I drilled and tapped the end of Screenwasher switch parts the stem to accept a #10-32-UNF screw. I put a small spring on the stem to keep light pressure on the stem/knob so it’s not loose when not being used.

I will mount the MGB electric pump under the dash (still have to make a bracket)".

"The original pump is back in the dash but it’s now a switch that controls the electric pump. I made a new bracket that is attached to the center two dash support brackets and the electric pump is attached to it. The pump works when I push the knob on the dash. I now have to remove and clean the nozzles because the fluid will not go through them".
